Inspired by the traditions of several cultures around the world, including that of our Quebec ancestors who often lived in intergenerational mode, we offer you an experience that can only prove to be enriching for all members of the same family, regardless of generation. Of course, this way of life, more communal than individual, does not meet the wants and needs of everyone. However, for those who are fortunate enough to live in a harmonious family unit, it can represent a real opportunity to share, give and give back to those who have allowed us to exist, to grow and to be who we are.
Patrick Sauvé, one of the co-founders of Highcube Container Homes who made this project a reality, has become a member of such a family. The Sauvé-Burlet-Vienney, sister, brother-in-law, and mother, live in bigenerational mode in the heart of Vieux Longueuil, on the South Shore of Montreal (Quebec, Canada). According to their testimony, this way of life can only be beneficial for all, through easy and quick access to mutual aid, the feeling of increased security for the elder, without neglecting the emotional exchanges that are shared on a daily basis.
In our opinion, this formula would have its place in Quebec and could greatly help the present aging population by reuniting families there and maintaining, even increasing, the autonomy and independence of each person while respecting privacy, because, we, at Highcube, wish to take advantage of these human values which are at the heart of our corporate mission.
Living with loved ones does not necessarily mean losing your living space for the benefit of a common, on the contrary. The intergenerational units of Highcube Container Homes have the advantage of being living units that can simply be juxtaposed or built into an already existing residence.
After making sure that municipal regulations approve this type of housing, it seems essential to us that the family assesses its reality and the consequences of this new way of life
